Description
Florida is known for its palm trees, but we also have oak trees. Not the huge stately trees known to our northern friend, but smaller shade giving trees. That is unless they grow in an area that is not subject to the Florida rules of nature. That is wild fire. Without this natural pruning our oaks grow much bigger than they should.
Our oaks also tend to collect Spanish Moss, an air plant that hangs in long streams. I've been told that the moss does not kill trees, but it is more apt to settle in trees that are dead or dyeing.
If that is true this tree is in trouble. Captured at Emerson Point Preserve in Palmetto, Florida.
