Description
The Boca Grande lighthouse is at the southern tip of Gasparilla. Legend has it that the barrier island got its name from the famed pirate Jose Gaspar. Unfortunately, this is a recent legend created by owners of a hotel on the island in an effort to spur tourism. The lighthouse overlooks a popular beach.
