The American alligator has become an icon of the Sunshine State. The general rule of thumb is if there is fresh, non stagnant water with fish or turtles in it, then there is an alligator nearby. This juvenile gator was in an algae filled marsh outside Ocala. I took this shot from a boardwalk cutting through the wetland.
