Artist's Description

Behold the eyed click beetle. This little critter is considered beneficial because they eat a lot of wood boring insects in their grub stage. It is easy to see where the "eyed" part of the name comes from (the eyes are not really eyes, but are spots). The "click" part comes from their tendency to snap their head and prothorax when threatened or if they fall onto their back. The action causes a prominent click.

This photo is in color. The bug is gray white and black and he is on the tire of my truck.

About Robert Wilder Jr

Robert Wilder Jr

My true passion is photography. Since I am not good at drawing or painting photography really lets my creative side loose. Originally from Rochester, New York, I've called Florida home for almost 40 years. Other interests include hiking, traveling and especially cruising. These activities are always finding me new things to photograph. My photographic philosophy is to show people things they pass everyday but never notice. I look forward to your feedback as I am still growing as a photographer and will never be done learning.
