Artist's Description

In August 2016 a wildfire swept across Egmont Key. The state was in the process of a prescribed burn, a fire intentionally set to burn off underbrush. Such fires are necessary for the health of Florida's forests. During this controlled fire a lightning strike set off another fire. None of the island's buildings was damaged, but many trees were damaged or killed. Most of these palm trees will survive as they still have green tops. The picture also shows some of the erosion caused by a passing storm. The sand has been cut back into a small bluff and some dead trees have fallen to the sand.

About Robert Wilder Jr

Robert Wilder Jr

My true passion is photography. Since I am not good at drawing or painting photography really lets my creative side loose. Originally from Rochester, New York, I've called Florida home for almost 40 years. Other interests include hiking, traveling and especially cruising. These activities are always finding me new things to photograph. My photographic philosophy is to show people things they pass everyday but never notice. I look forward to your feedback as I am still growing as a photographer and will never be done learning.
