Artist's Description
On the west coast of Florida lies Manasota Key. at the southern tip of the key is Stump Pass Beach State Park. The park is known for the dead trees (and stumps) that line the coast. Erosion and salt water intrusion have taken their toll and the park is constantly changing.
One thing that does not change is the tradition of placing shells on the dead branches. Each shell represents a wish and the Florida sun sends those wishes skyward.
In this picture one of those shell adorned branches has been decorated for Christmas.
