Description
At the beginning of the 20th century the Seaboard Line had over 2,500 miles of track running from Virginia into Florida. In 1911 they added another 16 plus miles from Fruitville Junction to Venice.
The rails became inactive after 1992. This is the South Creek Trestle, a 125 foot open deck timber trestle. It was restored when the Legacy Trail was built along the railroad right of way. The rails run the length of the trestle and no farther.
When my son was young he and friends often played on and around the trestle when we camped at nearby Oscar Scherer State Park.
