Description
Fort Ogden is a small unincorporated town just outside Arcadia in south central Florida. It grew up around Camp Ogden, a military camp set up during the Second Seminole Indian War. Not much remains of the original town. The brick school house still stands, though it is now a private residence. There is also a memorial park with a historical marker and an old cemetery. The nearby railway often has cars parked along State Road 17.If you are ever in the area, it makes an interesting stop.
Back before Facebook and the internet we would send postcards to our friends while we were on vacation. They also served as souvenirs of the places we visited. Postcards are still around but they just aren't the same.
