Historic Ybor City is a district in Tampa, Florida. This is “La Joven Francesca Bakery”. Originally from Sicily Francisco Ferlita opened a bakery at this location in 1896. A new brick building was then built utilizing the surviving brick ovens. Francisco’s sons operated the bakery after his death in 1931. At its peak the bakery produced 35,000 loaves a week. Production cane to an end in 1973.
