Description
Many folks think Florida does not have season, but we do, just not the same ones as other places. Two of the seasons that are easily distinguished are the dry season and the wet season. In other parts of the country dry season is known as winter and despite what you may have heard, it can get cold here in the winter. Not surprisingly summer is our wet season. It is not unusual for it to rain almost every day. For fifteen minutes or so. The sun is out the rest of the day.
This shot is from Tippecanoe Park in Port Charlotte near Florida’s west coast. In the rainy season this area would be a wetland. The dry grass is a fire risk and the coming rainy season will also bring lightning and the chance of wildfire.
