Artist's Description

Arturo Fuente established a cigar factory in Ybor City in 1912. The Cuban immigrant was 24 at the time and his factory was just one of almost 200 in the Tampa area. By 1924 the company had grown to employ 500 workers and was incorporated. Unfortunately production ended in that same year when fire destroyed the three story wooden structure. It would be until 1946 that production would be in full swing again. By the 1960’s the brand was one of the largest in the world. While they no longer make cigars in Ybor the company still sells them in the city and the family name can be found throughout Cigar City.

About Robert Wilder Jr

Robert Wilder Jr

My true passion is photography. Since I am not good at drawing or painting photography really lets my creative side loose. Originally from Rochester, New York, I've called Florida home for almost 40 years. Other interests include hiking, traveling and especially cruising. These activities are always finding me new things to photograph. My photographic philosophy is to show people things they pass everyday but never notice. I look forward to your feedback as I am still growing as a photographer and will never be done learning.
