Description
Boardwalks can be found on many of Florida’s trails. They offer a way for hikers to travel into marshy areas without getting too wet and they offer a bit of safety from gators and snakes. Many Florida trails lead through wet areas especially in the summer months. I have hiked some trails without the boardwalks during rainy season and it is not easy. In my younger days I would stop when the water got waist deep. These days I stop when it is up to my knees though my wife wants me to stop if my boots mioght get wet.
This is along a trail in the Alligator Creek Preserve in Punta Gorda, Florida. It is accessed via the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center.
